I started teaching museum programming back in 2002 at the Bartow History Museum. My experience has spanned the years and includes teaching, designing, organizing, managing, and marketing community programs. From field trips to community programs, I have gained valuable experience with providing quality enrichment.
I was the Booth Art Academy Manger from 2008 - 2011. In this position I designed children and adult programming to meet the needs of the community, managed the facility equipment, advertised the programming, and budgeted. I would teach several of the classes while also hiring contracted artists to teach programming. For the summer camp programs I started up the first youth volunteer program that was very successful and held youth exhibitions that were very well attended.
As the art teacher at the science and art center I taught the art component within the fieldtrip programs. I worked collaboratively to design the fieldtrip programs and marry the art and science in to a cohesive fieldtrip program. I led the summer camp program at the center and the scouting programs that we had. This programming became the basis for the "My Big Back Yard" exhibit located in the Tellus Museum. It was my great pleasure to work with a design firm to see our fieldtrip programming come to life in a gallery space.
At the Booth I would help and assist with field trip programs, special events, professional learning classes, and performing at some events. I also had the great opportunity to aid in the design of the audio portion of the interactive children's area.
It was here at the Bartow History Museum that I started my professional career. As program support, I taught field trip programs, summer camp programs, traveling historical programs, and scouting programs.
